COMMITMENT

 

The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie is committed to providing accessible services and facilities.  Accessibility is an important component of our planning criteria for all our projects and services.

 

Being a small rural community, we recognize and appreciate the lifestyle difficulties some of our residents have and we make every effort to simplify their lives.

 

This report describes the measures that Arran-Elderslie has taken to achieve a barrier-free environment and will continue to take in all future endeavors.

 

OBJECTIVES

1)  To comply with the Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

 

      2)  To report barriers that have been eliminated and how.

 

3)   To identify barriers that could arise due to changes of use or acquisition of property.

 

      4)   To promote awareness of and prevent future barriers from arising.

 

      5)      To make this plan available to the public on the municipal website, in our libraries and in the         municipal office. 

 

      6)      To encourage the public to offer feedback regarding lifestyle barriers in Arran-Elderslie.

 

 

The  Working Group

 

composed of the Clerk/CAO, the Recreation & Facilities Director and the Works Manager, will

 

    address any public concerns

·         maintain lists of all facilities and services

·         Identify barriers found or reported and how they will be eliminated

·         report results annually to Council
