TREASURY DEPARTMENT
ACCOUNTING CLERK – TEMPORARY POSITION
This is a temporary position to cover a planned absence of one
Accounting Clerk for a 12-week period, subject to extension at the discretion
of the CAO. It is a Bargaining Unit
position. The position reports directly
to the Treasurer.
GENERAL DUTIES
·
Reception
and front-line customer service both in person and over the telephone; ability
to answer enquiries from customers and/or direct as appropriate;
·
Processing
of cash receipts;
·
Maintain
Municipal cemetery records;
·
Accounts
Payable and Accounts Receivable functions;
·
Process
outgoing mail and courier requirements;
·
Undertake
preliminary layout and production of bi-monthly Municipal newsletter;
·
Filing;
·
Update
Municipal Website as necessary;
·
Provide
administrative assistance as directed by senior staff as required;
KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION
·
Knowledge
of accounting principles; ability to use computerized accounting programs;
training in cash handling;
·
Customer
service experience;
·
Working
knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications;
HOURS OF WORK
·
35 hours
per week, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
