PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS NOT AN ADDITIONAL ADMIN STAFF POSITION. IN FEBRUARY 2004, THERE WERE 7 FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT (FTE) ADMIN POSITIONS IN THE MUNICIPAL OFFICE. ONE OF THOSE HAS BEEN ELIMINATED AND ONE HAS BEEN REDUCED TO PART-TIME LEAVING US WITH 5 1/2 FTE'S. THIS POSTING IS FOR NEW DUTIES FOR ONE OF THE 5 FULL TIME POSITIONS. PRIOR TO AMALGAMATION, THE FIVE FORMER WARDS HAD A TOTAL OF 12 ADMIN STAFF.
The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie will accept sealed applications to the attention of, Treasurer, Joanne Marklevitz,
for the non-union position of : Assistant Clerk-Treasurer
until: 12:00 noon Friday, July 28, 2006 at the Municipal office at the above address.

Reporting to the Treasurer, this position will be responsible for at least the following treasury duties:
-tax billing & collection functions
-implementation of all relevant tax legislation
-maintenance of property tax accounts
-interaction with ratepayers via telephone, in writing and in person
-fixed asset setup
-daily deposits
-provide clerical and administrative support
-reception/accounts receivable backup
-accounts payable cheque processing
-payroll, accounts payable backup
-balance accounts receivable statements
Reporting to the Clerk, this position will be responsible for at least the following clerical duties:
-correspondence
-agendas, minutes, by-laws, Council directions
-planning application processing
Qualifications -Grade 12, minimum
-post secondary, if in related municipal field, or equivalent experience
-accounting level one, or equivalent experience
-Municipal Tax Administration Program or willing to enroll and complete
Skills -Excellent command of MS Word & Excel for setting up documents, forms and spreadsheets, etc.
-Computer skills to learn & excel at all customized municipal accounting software, internet use
-familiarity with provincial legislation related to municipalities
Qualities -excellent organizational and time management skills
-ability to communicate effectively with staff and public
-ability to maintain confidentiality is essential respecting financial, personnel, council issues, etc.
-works well unsupervised and with other staff and the public
Experience -ideally, 2-5 years in a municipal office
-2-5 years in an office or business where accounting and clerical duties were performed

Any applicant who can demonstrate the desire, enthusiasm and initiative to acquire the multitude of skills required to work in a municipal office will be considered regardless of meeting all qualifications.
