WATER SYSTEM

PRECAUTIONARY NOTICE TO BOIL WATER

Due to one adverse water result on June 9, 2008 a Precautionary Notice to Boil Water has been issued effective immediately.  Corrective action is being currently undertaken to restore normal water system operations.

By way of this Public Notice, “Chesley and Paisley Water System Users” are advised to bring their water to a rapid, rolling boil for a minimum of one (1) minute for drinking or any other human consumption purposes, effective immediately.

This Precautionary Notice is anticipated to be in place for an unknown period of time, however, water users must wait for another notice before stopping the boiling of water for drinking or other human consumption purposes.

This notice was issued by the Municipality of Arran Elderslie as per Regulation 170/03, Schedule 18, Section 18-5, Paragraph #1, on behalf of the owner.

Escherichia coli (E coli) or Fecal coliforms

18-5.  If a report is required to be made under Section 18 of the Act in respect of Escherichia coli (E.coli) or Fecal coliforms, the owner of the drinking water system and the operating authority for the system shall ensure that the following corrective action is taken:

1.                   Immediately take all reasonable steps to notify all users of water from the system to use an alternate source of drinking water or to bring water to a rapid boil for at least one minute before use.
