Oct 26/07:  Thank you to the Paisley Works Department, for your prompt attention to the main street bridge. It is noticeably better, especially for wheelchair users.
Good job!

You're welcome from the Works Department!

Jul 13/07:  Thanks for your informative website that tackles issues like the Paisley Inn. I recommend it to everyone who is misinformed about the going's on (or lack thereof) at the Inn. We are new (3 year) residents of Paisley and have to agree with the comments made on June 29, that Mr. Maidlow is playing the system to get the public to feel responsible for what HE (and his
shareholders) are responsible for. I love the Paisley Inn, it's history and the dream of what it could be, but as I don't own it - it's fate falls into the hands of those that do. I'm sure Mr. Maidlow wouldn't "support" the idea of putting a new roof on my house! ALSO, my husband would like to add that he's tired of seeing the signs hanging off the fencing at the front of the Inn. The signs are an eyesore and there is likely some kind of bylaw that addresses this.

Keep up the good work!!!

Jul 11/07:  I think it is very petty to be posting the "acused" section on the website by municipal administration... citizens & businesses are entitled to freedom of speech in the media. It's that type of censorship & intimidation that drives young people out of our area & puts Arran Elderslie in a negative light.

Jul 11/07 [same person]:  Could you please put info about Scone Steam Show on the website... or link to?
Thank you.

Thank you for your comment.  Responding factually to misinformation in the paper is neither censorship nor intimidation.  It is getting the correct information to the residents of Arran-Elderslie.  It was at the direction of Council that the facts were added to the website.  While everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, they are also entitled to the facts.

Second Question:

Strictly speaking, the Scone Steam Show is in Grey County, Township of Chatsworth, but we'll help you out if you provide an electronic version of what you would like added to our list of 'Things to Do'

Jul 5/07:

I really like your (new?) and updated website. I have visited a couple of time before and always enjoyed it. It is especially important to have a venue like this for people to see what you are up to. It will build trust.

I especially like what you have done with the hotel information. It is so much better to have the facts of at least one side of the dispute than just the media information and gossip that flies around.I find the reports make the task sound difficult and dangerous but doable. Let us hope it will encourage Mr. Maidlaw to actively do something about it.

I am trying to find out the demographics of Paisley. I would like to know the number of people in each age group (10 groups of 10 years) and how many houses are vacant. I have looked up Wikipedia and that gives me all of Arran Elderslie. Can you help?

Praise is always welcome—thank you.

We no longer get census data for the individual Wards—just the

whole Municipality. The following link can be copied into your browser

which takes you to Stats Canada for Arran-Elderslie:

Sorry we no longer have the breakdown you’d like.

Jun 29/07:  I have been following the Paisley Hotel story for a while. It appears to me that the owner is trying to bully council into giving him public (taxpayers) money for a private job. While I think the Paisley hotel is somewhat of a landmark in the town I do not believe that taxpayers money should be spent on a building that the owner has neglected for many years. I am not an Arran-Elderslie taxpayer but the media has made such a mess of the issue that I wanted to give my thoughts on the subject.

Jun 20/07:  This is just a personal opinion, but your website colours do not suggest a professional vibe. At first, I thought I had come across someone's private website about Arran-Elderslie, not the Municipal website. Just a thought!

May 23/07:  I understand from talking with Marcie that the HHW ad for Bruce County is in the newsletter. I would suggest, from looking at your website, that the information also be posted in the Garbage or Landfill information.

Mar 26/07:  Thank you for your prompt, pre-emptive action in draining the lawn-bowling green in Paisley this spring. Our sump pumps haven't had the work-out they have needed the past couple of years to keep up with the spring melt, and the pumps running this weekend (always on a weekend!) were on at the perfect time.
We appreciate the effort of the works crew for their attention and good work!

Oct 17/06:

Thank you very much for sending us the bi-monthly newsletter, as I only receive it when I have asked for it in the past, due to a neighbour telling me about it.

In the newsletter you had the website listed, it is very informative and found out quite about

Arran-Elderslie.

You're welcome.  If you do not receive any future newsletters, they are also on the website.

Jul 5/06:  I visisted the Chesley dump on the free dump day and the staff did an excellent job of directing vehicles and people. They were, as usual, friendly, helpful and happy to help. We have a great staff - well done.

Thank you, Kim. The Staff never tires of praise. I will pass it on

May 6/06:  I think that the new website is great. The new format is much more appealing and easier to use. I like that you have included many more things in Arran-Elderslie including the library and pool schedules. Keep up the good work. I thought that the yellow recreation newsletter last month was nice too.

Thank you very much for your kind words. Who doesn't like praise?
We try to be as open and informative as we can. If there is anything our residents would like to see on the website, we will do our best to comply.

Mar 9/06:  Sorry, I guess I wasn't very clear.
No problem with the rest of the site, just the 1st & 2nd page.
Small black text on grainy, grey(gray??)buttons is hard to read. esp. as I and many other people are getting up there in age and failing eyesight.
It's also difficult for people who are color-blind.
If anything, the "Please Come in" button on the home page could be more 'noticeable', larger or more colourful. As far as that goes, the whole picture could also be 'clickeable'.
Thanks for the personal reply.

Note:  first two pages have since be redesigned.

Mar 8/06:  To be brief and perfectly honest, the new look is absolutely dreadful:  colourless, uninviting, boring...

Sorry to hear you don't like the new look of our website. If you think it is colourless, you have only looked at the first couple of pages—keep going—it gets very colourful.
The first pages are intentionally ultra conservative as it is hard to balance political colours in a municipality.
The focus of this site is on easy navigation with everything very visible and not too many drop-down boxes etc to get where you want to be. I have been on hundreds of websites that are really exciting and I can't find a thing—I always exit such sites in favour of simple, tasteful, useful ones.
Everyone has a different opinion—someone else liked the website so much they decided to build a house here—go figure.

Feb 18/06:  Comments: I cannot get the link to the council minutes to come up?

Jan 26/06:  My husband and I moved to Tara in September with our 2 young kids. I would like to Congratulate you on your new website. Wow, what a great job! I researched the community and read prior council meetings before deciding to build in the area. I am sure the new format of your web site will encourage others to consider living in the communities of arran elderlie. Keep up the great work.

Jan 20/06:  I was checking out your new website and was very excited to see a information about the new Museum.  Could you update it to reflect the name change as written below and a few more specifics about our collection?  Thank You!Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre
